Scottish and Southern Energy in a joint venture arrangement with ESB International are presently constructing and will subsequently operate an 842MWe CCGT power plant in Southampton. The station consists of 2 gas turbines and 1 steam turbine each rated at 280MWe. The output generated will be equivalent to the electricity requirements of 1 million homes.

Kirby Group was contracted by Siemens AG to install all power and controls / instrumentation services on the project. Our work scope also included for the assembly of 3 no. generating transformers each rated at 340MWe in addition to the fabrication and erection of the 20Kv rated bus duct system.
Kirby Group have also undertaken the site enabling and lighting and general services installation works associated with a 842MWe CCGT power station currently being constructed using the footprint of the former Uskmouth A coal fired power station in South Wales.
Siemens also awarded the controls and instrumentation contract associated with the Didcot power station replant B project to Kirby Group. Our work scope included for the strip-out of all controls infrastructure including MCC’s associated with 2 no. gas turbines and re-instatement with new controls / instrumentation infrastructure.
